Moving OR Relocating To France? Here's A Brief Guide

Climate:The weather in France is temperate, moderated by air currents coming from both the Atlantic and the Continent.
Money/ Currency: Euro which is made up of: Coinage 2 Euro, 1 Euro, 20, 10, 5, 2, 1 Cents Notes 5 Euro, 10, 20, 50, 100, 200, 500
Royal Mail:For those relocating or moving to France, Royal Mail provide an international mail forwarding service. At your local Post Office you can obtain an international mail Forwarding Form which must be handled in 5 days before moving to France.

Pets: Dogs and Cats:No quarantine regulations apply to domestic dogs and cats moving to France from the UK, but a health certificate is required in both French and English. The certificate must be issued by a Veterinary Surgeon authorised by D.E.F.R.A. in the UK, issued no more than 48 hours prior to moving to France. when relocating to France, you are allowed to take to take up to 3 pets per family with a minimum age of 12 weeks.
Public Holidays: There are 11 National Holidays per year inclusive of Christmas and New Years day. It is not unusual for the French to extend official holidays which fall at the end or the beginning of the weekend. (faire le pont)
Time: France is one hour ahead of GMT.
Business Hours: Though hours may vary, basic summer working hours are 9.00am-6.30pm with a lunch break between the hours of 12.30 through 2.00pm. Most businesses are traditionally open six days a week. |

Shipping to France, Moving my effects: As a citizen of the EU, there are no customs restrictions on your efects when relocating to France. A Carte de Sejour is a compulsory document for those settling in France and must be obtained within three months of arrival from the Prefecture de Police.
